Michael’s presentation, titled “Rescheduling: A New Day for Solar Energy! Eligibility for Federal Tax Credits, Write-Offs, and Energy Independence!”, will explore the groundbreaking impact of the proposed federal rescheduling of marijuana on the cannabis industry, particularly concerning solar photovoltaic (PV) investments.

In his session, Michael will detail how the reclassification of marijuana as a less restrictive substance opens the door for cannabis operations to leverage federal tax incentives, including up to 50% in federal tax credits in many communities, as well as accelerated and bonus depreciation benefits. These financial incentives make solar PV installations an attractive and financially viable option for cannabis businesses looking to enhance their sustainability and energy independence.
Following the technical discussion on tax incentives, Michael will guide attendees through practical considerations for integrating solar PV systems into their operations. This includes site selection, accessing government resources like the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), and calculating and communicating the reduction of carbon emissions. Michael’s presentation will emphasize the environmental and economic benefits of solar energy, helping businesses communicate their positive impact to management, marketing teams, and consumers.
