First Cannabis Brand to be title sponsor of cycling team

Medford, OR – December 7, 2017 –  Grown Rogue – the premier Cannabis company in Southern Oregon – announced today formal sponsorship of Portland based Olympia Beer Cycling Team.  This Sponsorship is first of its kind by a cannabis brand.  Grown Rogue Founder and CEO Obie Strickler provides insight, “My wife and I engage in an active lifestyle and felt sponsoring an experienced team would send a message to the industry.”

The message as Strickler explained, “… is to encourage a new perspective on cannabis.” Decades old stigma around cannabis associates use with lazy or lethargic activities. “That simply isn’t the case,” Strickler added, “Cannabis provides medicinal benefits particularly to people engaging in high activity sports in aiding recovery.”  Grown Rogue was founded in 2016 to bring a community first approach to the recreational cannabis industry in Oregon. Grown Rogue is building on a successful track record of 10 years in the medical cannabis sector. The family owned business has grown quickly with 2 operational outdoor farms with over 750 plants harvested this past season and a 17,000 square foot indoor facility.

Grown Rogue is integrated in the Oregon community but plans to expand nationally in 2018.  “The fact that our Sales Leader in Portland, Dave Aldersebaes, is one of the team owners was very compelling,” Strickler added.  Aldersebaes joined Grown Rogue in early 2017 to introduce the high quality cannabis products to the greater Portland region.  Aldersebaes says of the sponsorship, “I’m honored that our CEO believes in our team and our mission and is taking steps to help change people’s perceptions on cannabis.”
