A new BC-based player in the medicinal marijuana market is set to submit an additional application to Health Canada this month which, if successful, would see the entrant become one of the largest growers and distributors in Canada.
Wildflower Marijuana Inc. (CNSX: SUN) will soon have two applications under consideration with Health Canada for two different properties, both of which are situated in the temperate climate around Nanaimo – an area renowned for cultivating some of the purest and highest quality medicinal cannabis. The locations combined will equate to 160 acres, and approximately 150,000 square feet of growing facility space under the Wildflower umbrella once fully built out – with enormous opportunity for expansion as required.
CEO and President William MacLean is optimistic about the opportunity. “We want to provide patients in need with medicinal BC cannabis in its purest, pharmaceutical grade form, with the smallest possible carbon footprint in the process. Recognizing the quality of our medicine, we took on two properties that would enable expansion as needed. We’re optimistic on the licensing process and look forward to working with Health Canada as things progress,” he said.
Wildflower Marijuana Inc and its holdings are backed by an impressive management team and advisory board geared towards maintaining quality, cost efficiency, and security. Key individuals include Horticulturist, Asmatullah Asmat (who brings over 20 years experience in plant production, and was a former agriculture specialist for the United Nations); Dr Shane Lu, Manager of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs (a recognized quality assurance professional with a Bachelor of Science in Plant Science, a Masters degree in Plant Pathology and a PhD in Microbiology); as well as Barry Daniel, Head of Security (a retired police chief who spent 25 years with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in a variety of leadership positions across Canada).
Wildflower Marijuana Inc’s quality assurance experts will be utilizing state of the art technology for bio-containment to maintain high levels of purity. From recycling rainwater to new growing and building technologies – its facility will be engineered to have one of the smallest carbon footprints in the industry, while also keeping costs down for patients.
Wildflower Marijuana Inc’s first application to Health Canada was recently submitted, with the second one set to follow this month. The Company started trading on the Canadian Securities Exchange (CSE) on June 16, 2014 with the ticker symbol SUN.
