Ambassador Siegel has a distinguished record of public service. Appointed by then President George W. Bush, he served as the U.S. Ambassador to the Commonwealth of the Bahamas from October 2007 to January 2009. Following his tenure, in May of 2009, Ambassador Siegel was presented with the United States Coast Guard Meritorious Public Service Award acknowledging his strong support of the United States Coast Guard and his tireless advocacy of the U.S. Coast Guard’s key partnerships with the Royal Bahamian Defense Force, Royal Bahamian Police Force and the Bahamas Air and Sea Rescue Association, combating the threats of illegal drug trafficking and seizure of cocaine and marijuana throughout the Bahamian islands. Prior to his ambassadorship, he was also appointed by President Bush to serve two presidential appointments: in 2006, he served under Ambassador John R. Bolton at the United Nations in New York, as the Senior Advisor to the U.S. Mission and as the United States representative to the 61st Session of the United Nations General Assembly and from 2003-2007, he served on the Board of Directors of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC).
With over 30 years of entrepreneurial success in the private sector, Ambassador Siegel is the president of The Siegel Group, a multi-disciplined international business management advisory and consulting firm he founded in 1997 in Boca Raton, Florida. Siegel has extensive experience in private equity investments in Israel, bringing together people, businesses and governments in collaboration to connect the right partners and innovative solutions.

The company has applied to the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to grow research grade cannabis for use by DEA registered researchers. Upon approval of the DEA application a cultivation and research facility will be located in the State of Maine.
