Lux Leaf: Pioneering a Patient-Centered Integrative Care Service Model

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO. /  MJBizwire / May 20, 2016 — Lux Leaf, a medical cannabis dispensary, cultivation and learning center in Old Colorado City, is opening this month with a mission to provide patients and the community high-quality education, empowering collaborative strategies and an elevated quality-of-life through trusted resources and personalized care plans.

To support this effort, Lux Leaf’s executive team, which includes President Ron DiGiacomo and two award-winning Master Cultivators with over 15 years of industry experience, has named Lisa Harding, MA, CCS, member of the Society of Cannabis Clinicians, as the company’s Patient Care Services Director. In this position, Harding will work to bridge the gap between qualifying patients and local integrative care resources.

“Integrative Medicine is a movement to explore new ways to treat the mind, body, and spirit all at the same time using a team approach of care providers,” Harding said.

Harding will lead the Patient Care Support Department in assisting with the medical cannabis application process. Patients will receive education on qualification requirements, aid in gathering all needed materials for the application, and access to a directory of physicians/care providers with complementary knowledge. The department will also provide support for cannabis therapy plans of integrative wellness to ensure patients receive maximum benefits and documented results.

Harding joins Lux Leaf with 20 years of experience in communication, education, and counseling. She began her career in the Education, Media, and Reference Department at the VA Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA. Her desire to learn more about cannabis as a medicine started when her mother was in hospice care. Harding’s interest only grew once she learned about the endocannabinoid system discovered by Dr. Raphael Mechoulam, as well as the scientific evidence that the plant is a non-toxic nutrient that avoids the dangerous side effects prevalent with current pharmaceutical strategies.

Harding is passionate about sharing knowledge, keeping up with the latest science and collaborating with patients and professionals — including her teammates who are cultivating high-quality targeted medicines. She explains, “Our goal is to empower patients and caregivers to make confident, informed decisions for their personal strategy of wellness and recovery. All patients deserve the respect of being educated about their options, and the dignity of choosing freely how to reach their goals.”

Lux Leaf is currently seeking participants for a Patient Focus Group to represent a variety of patient care needs and provide feedback on the quality of service. Lux Leaf is also looking for health and wellness professionals who are interested in sharing knowledge of services and resources, creating a true community effort.
