FloridaMarijuanaInfo.org Supports FL Amendment 2 & Launches Campaign

Delray Beach, FL  October 29, 2014

FloridaMarijunaInfo.org announces its support of Amendment 2, the Florida Right to Medical Marijuana Initiative. On November 4, 2014, Florida voters have the opportunity to amend the Florida constitution and legalize medical marijuana for patients with debilitating conditions as defined by their physicians. Florida Marijuana Info.Org recommends you Vote Yes on Amendment 2.

The measure on Florida’s November ballot guarantees that qualified patient using medical marijuana will not be subject to criminal or civil liability under Florida state law. It also guarantees that licensed physicians issuing medical marijuana to a patients diagnosed with a debilitating medical condition, as well as registered medical marijuana treatment centers, will not be subject to criminal or civil liability under state law.

Medical cannabis has been shown to be safe and effective in relieving symptoms of life-altering conditions such as epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, glaucoma and multiple sclerosis, as well as the unpleasant side effects of cancer treatments and general pain for people of all ages. People living with cancer, AIDS, MS, ALS and other debilitating conditions have long used medical cannabis to relieve pain, nausea, vomiting and seizures, or to increase their appetites and gain weight. Florida patients should also have access to this treatment. Recent medical studies have also exhibited positive results in slowing or stopping the effects of Alzheimer’s disease. “Florida Marijuana Info.Org was created with the purpose to provide Floridians with free access to accurate and educational information on the many beneficial uses for medical marijuana and the medical marijuana industry,” said David I. Shiner, founder, “…[w]e have also been closely following the issue of legalization of medical marijuana in Florida since our inception. Based on the medically proven safety and effectiveness of medical marijuana, and the relief that legalization would bring to thousands of Floridians of all ages, we are urging voters to say YES to Amendment 2 in November.”

Opponents of Amendment 2 criticize the initiative for what they have categorized as “loopholes”; however, Amendment 2 clearly leaves the practice of medicine to physicians and other healthcare providers, and allows them to determine whether a patient’s condition could be treated with medical marijuana.

Medical marijuana is proven to be safe and effective. It is time for Florida to join 23 other states and the District of Columbia in making it legal, so that deserving citizens can relieve their pain and suffering. FloridaMarijuanaInfo.org recommends a YES vote on Amendment 2.
